MediaVault
Digital Broadcast's MediaVault provides near-line mass storage of commercial and news programming files.
Offered as a stand-alone solution for the archiving of broadcast media files, the MediaVault is also an advantageous adjunct to Digital Broadcast's MediaFire Automated Master Control and NewsBank Automated Newsroom Systems.
For master control, the automatic retrieval of material from the MediaVault is transparent. The automation system first looks for content on its resident RAID. If not found, it automatically searches and retrieves material from the MediaVault Archive.
News scripts and video are searchable on the numerous newsroom systems to which the MediaVault interfaces.
Utilizing the metadata contained in each video file, the MediaVault offers high-speed search capability of even huge indexes of stored files. Searched files can be clicked and played on access-permitted desktop computers.
MediaVault Blu-ray uses blue laser technology, optical technology with extremely high performance and data density. Blu-ray disks offer up to 50GB per media and storage libraries up to 35 TB of data and up to 14 parallel data streams with 72Mbps each.
Unlike traditional surface-limited storage, MediaVault Holographic uses technology that records through the full depth of the medium. A single holographic disc stores 300 GB of information at a transfer rate of 20 megabytes per second, 160 megabits per second. 50 hours of high definition video can be stored on a single disk. Holographic disks provide over 50 years of media archive life.
