KYTX Inaugurates Fully Automated Master Control with MediaFire System

The Texas Station Realizes Operational Efficiencies by Automatically Airing
Programming and Spots, Including High Definition

Gainesville, FL, September 23, 2009 – Digital Broadcast, a leading producer of master control and newsroom automation products, recently completed installation of a MediaFire Automated Master Control System at London Broadcasting Company Inc’s KYTX station in Tyler, Texas.

KYTX’s MediaFire System features control of the station’s HD and SD ingest and playout as well as their routers for full automation control. MediaFire’s Automated Scheduled Record application allows operators to schedule the automated recording of satellite feeds.

Networked to the system are the Pathfire™, DG/Fast Channel ® and the station’s traffic system computers. Syndicated programming from Pathfire is received on the Pathfire server and is automatically transferred to the MediaFire servers where it is stored and completely ready for automatic playout. No format conversion or prepping is required. Interfaces are also included for direct transfers from DG/FastChannel. An interface to KYTX’s traffic & billing system provides the playout schedule as well as an accurate as-run report.

Digital Broadcast’s MediaFire System features a highly effective design in which the automation is totally integrated with the system hardware. This results in significant high-quality performance and cost advantages.

Recognizing the extreme importance of on-air consistency, the MediaFire offers noteworthy redundancies, including RAID storage and redundant power supplies.

“Our MediaFire System provides us significant cost efficiencies while providing a high-quality on-air image,” says Moe Strout, Director of Engineering for London Broadcasting Company Inc. “It fits very well into London Broadcasting’s forward-thinking philosophy of providing innovative digital broadcasting while maintaining strict cost controls.”

J.T. Davis, President and Chief Operating Office of Digital Broadcast relates, “KYTX is a fine showcase for the design features we have incorporated into our MediaFire product. It is a first-class broadcast operation and our relationship with the personnel there has been invaluable.”
