WXXV Upgrades its Master Control with MediaFire IP

GAINESVILLE, FL, January 3, 2013 – WXXV-TV, the Morris Network FOX affiliate in Gulfport, Mississippi has completed installation of MediaFIre IP, an IT-based total master control solution from Digital Broadcast.

The MediaFire IP provides WXXV with multichannel master control splicing of MPEG2 and MPEG4 media for direct feeds to cable or a transmitter.  The MediaFire/IP maintains the streamed MPEG network so that no baseband switching or keying is required.  It supports MPEG2 and MPEG4 compressed ASI transport streams and video over IP as SPTS (single program transport streams) and MPTS (multi program transport streams).

With the MediaFire IP, incoming material is scaled to HD and/or SD as needed and the bitrate is automatically conformed for playout.  The system splices the material and selects the output sources according to the MediaFire Automation schedule, thus bypassing the need for a switcher.

MediaFire’s statistical multiplexer enables simultaneous playout of HD and SD channels, as well as multiple HD channels and multiple SD channels.  ASI and SMPTE 310 outputs are supported.

Digital Broadcast’s Graphics Engine provide logo insertion and crawls on MPEG2 and MPEG4, eliminating the need for a downstream logo insertion.  EAS and PSIP interfaces are also supported.

WXXV’s Digital Broadcast IP MultiViewer application offers convenient monitoring of up to 10 outputs simultaneously.

WXXV uses Digital Broadcast’s conforming engine to process syndicated programming Pathfire, PitchBlue and Javelin.  Material from these media delivery servers are automatically transferred to the MediaFire IP servers where it is stored and completely ready for automatic playout.  No format conversion or prepping is required.   MediaFire’s integral MediaFire Automation airs the playout schedule automatically.
